This week’s programme was in the holiday resort of Cancun Mexico. That’s where I will be ending up for 6 weeks after my trip to west coast U.S.A and Hawaii for this years 3 months winter hols I think the programme made the same mistake as in the Gambian programme in so much as they did not take the holiday makers to the rural areas of the countries to see how the native inhabitants really live. Instead they were sent to live with a family downtown Cancun. Admittedly away from the main resort with it 4/5 hotels, but did not show the real Mexican way of life. For me I try and stay away from the tourist traps but to mix with the locals but close enough to at least go there to experience it. So I will be staying in Puerto Morelos a small village north of Cancun. The guide books say Puerto Morelos retains its quiet small town feel despite the building boom in Cancun. While the village offers enough restaurant and bars to keep you fed and watered. But for a night out clubbing/music venues and mix with the locals. Go to Downtown Cancun that’s the place to go. Not just listen to traditional Mexican Music but also try a bit of salsa. Bring on the Tequila lol.
Its true as Turk pointed out of why tourists should not visit night spots in Gambia that “demographically, ideologically, culturally, Neither music, nor dance, nor the lyrics playing fit you”
I don’t aspire to that philosophy but each to their own. But for me I think that’s a very narrow minded way of looking at holidays abroad. You could say that for many places around the world. But you miss out so much of mixing with the locals of learning about there cultures and way of life and that’s why I go abroad. Obviously also for their history, places of worship and monuments

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

Turk when ever you have no answer you try and use the cop out of saying you have no clue or you dont get it indeed understand what you were saying. Turk I have the measure of you with your insults rudeness innuendoes and false statements you concede nothing you are an obnoxious person a bigot. To me you are not the average Gambian who is warm, nice, and friendly You are a well balanced person as you have a chip on both shoulders but sad what a way to go thru life. I know all this will mean nothing to you because that’s the person you are.I won’t waste my time with you because, one is wasting ones breath and just treat you with the contempt you deserve |
