Kanilai farms is supposed to be a private company belonging to President Jammeh but I was puzzled to see GG (Gambia Government) number plates on some of the pick-up vehicles. It is really confusing to see a vehicle with a private company logo on the doors and at the same time having a government number plate and being fuelled by tax payers money. It is a fact that many Gambians and non Gambians participate in the cultivation on the presidents numerous farms but it is abuse of power to use GG plates and fuel on a private company. It is also believed that some of the employees of this company are being paid by the Department of State for Agriculture which is under the President.
Can't HE distinguish what belongs to him and what belongs to the Gambian People?
Is Kanilai family Farms belonging to the Gambian state?

Between the person of captain Jemus AJJJ Jammeh as leader of APRC party and state of Gambia as distinct body, there is no separation. Normal people see abuse of power. Jammeh and his supporters see it as normal to take what belongs to Gambian nation and the private farming business of captain Jammeh one and the same.
By all standards, this is very serious abuse of government resources by a person who is entrusted with custody of what belongs to all. It has to be discouraged. |

No karamba I think all those supporting Yahya Jammeh do so because either they expect a post from him or their family member works for him. Comeon no one loves this man apart fro his mother not even his own wife. Gambians are mute about some of the things because of the type of environment created by the monster. The environment of fear and distrust. |

LEAKED INFORMATION FROM WHISTLE BLOWERS AND ALLEGATIONS ON KANILAI GROUP INTERNATIONAL (TO BE UN-REGISTERED UNDER REGISTRAR OF GAMBIA COMPANIES) FROM FREEDOM NEWS
THIS REPORT EXTRACTED BELOW WAS FORWARDED AND FEATURED IN FREEDOM NEWS; (Posted on Saturday, March 19, 2011)
"Pa,
Many Gambians have wondered about the business practices of businessman/President Yaya Jammeh. The character and misrule of Jammeh is best exemplified in the Kanilai Group International (KGI).
The KGI is supposed to be a conglomerate of companies comprising of Kanilai Farms, Kanilai Bakery, UTSCO, etc. In actuality, the KGI is a business in name only as it is not registered with the Registrar of companies and does not pay taxes, duties or levies that legitimate businesses are obliged to pay by law.
The KGI is best described as a vehicle through which Yaya Jammeh robs The Gambian people. The KGI itself has been run by various characters including Gas Njie, Pa Bojang (Yaya's uncle) and a Lebanese national Ahmed Hurjur (married to Zeinab's sister).
Needless to say, Yaya changes his managers like he changes underwear. They, like others, are frequently fired, arrested, released and then rehired. Then the whole cycle starts all over again. The following are the major components of this criminal enterprise.
The biggest component of this enterprise is Kanilai Farms. Kanilai Farms is the business name that Jammeh uses for all his international transactions. For example, the arms trafficking is all done under Kanilai Farms. Kanilai Farms is also a business that "borrows" directly from government agencies such as Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation. Gambians will be surprised to learn that the entire amount of $15million dollars paid as a royalty by the Canadian firm Buried Hill for oil exploration to the Gambia National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) was given as a "loan" to Kanilai Farms by the GNPC.
Kanilai Farms is also the entity that sells rice donated by the Japanese government. This rice is commonly termed as "Malo Yaya Jammeh". This rice is actually aid rice. Another thing Kanilai Farms sells are tractors. These tractors are actually part of an aid program donated by the Indian government. This aid too is sold to Gambian farms by Jammeh.
Another big criminal enterprise is the Kanilai Bakery. This firm's office on Kairaba Avenue was actually illegally seized by Yaya Jammeh from a Sarahule businessman. Yaya Jammeh arrested the businessman, Mr. Kaira, threw him in Mile 2 and would not release him until the man signed over the property to KGI and Mr. Pa Bojang. He promised to compensate him $500,000 but of course never paid him a single butut. Kanilai Green Industries is another criminal enterprise. This business is also based on Mr. Kaira's property and is in the clothing business. The sewing machines and industrial equipment being used by Green Industries were actually donated by the Taiwanese government and were meant for youth employment. Of course Jammeh takes the equipment for his own personal use. Additionally, schools are now required to push their students to buy their uniforms from Kanilai Green Industries.
UTSCO is a Transportation Company also owned by Jammeh. Many people will notice green school buses transporting passengers all around Gambia. These buses were part of a $ 1 billion transportation project donated by the Iranian government. Instead of using these buses for the public good as intended by the Iranians, Jammeh hijacks them and now charges Gambians to ride the buses that were donated by the Iranians to them.
Kanilai Mining is a mining company that is now the only company allowed to do mining in The Gambia. Readers may notice orange Mercedes Benz trucks driving around town carrying sand. These trucks were donated to the Gambian people as part of the $1 billion Iranian project mentioned above.
Once again, what was meant for the public was hijacked for the benefit of Yaya Jammeh. Additionally, the mining operations of Carnegie Minerals which were illegally seized by Jammeh have now been transferred to Kanilai Mining. The sad fact is that Carnegie is now suing the Gambian government. The Gambian people will once again pay for the bill when the government loses yet another case.
I will not bore the readers with listing of all of Jammeh's business activities. Suffice is it to say that another major component is Kanilai Abattoir.
I can tell the readers that as an insider, that Jammeh has no time to be President. Most of his day is taken up with running his many business activities and worrying about his personal security. The Gambian people and their interests are secondary to Jammeh."

Kobo you have flagged up very interesting and yet revealing details of information. One wonders when is it that Jammeh will feel SATISFIED. Lot of what is going on is pure greed. How does Jammeh get to feel that he has to own everything just because he is occupying the position of president ? Not even his most blinded supporters could back up the bid for this Jammeh all-possessing drive for ownership. It is like Jammeh will migrate to the next world with full bags of his worldly possessions. This will no doubt go deep in history of Gambia that there lived a president who wanted and possessed everything. I am truly amazed that an individual goes this far. |
