Many years ago my hobby was Post Vintage Classic cars My own car being a Humber Super Snipe which took me 9 years to restore After which I used to take it to car shows and concourse events It was a heavy car so needed a vehicle with a big powerful engine to tow it on a trailer I wanted a period vehicle that looked the part and eventual choose a double deck hears This had what was called P100 headlights they were huge you could see it comming for miles lol It was a big powerful vehicle. One year I said to my 14 year son how would he like a grand tour of Europe using the hears as a camper he jumped at the idea
So with a double mattress in the top half and all the camping gear in the bottom half we set of on our adventure and a 4 month trip around Europe visiting fellow Humber club members.
My thoughts was not just to show my son different countries and cultures but also to visit war memorials and mass military grave yards of all the young men that died not much older than him. That died during the great wars.

On arrival at the ferry port to depart for Holland you could see the different queues
Of cars caravans and commercial vehicles for loading on to the ferry. We were stopped and told to hold on while the guy contacted the office the conversation went thus
Arry yes Fred got a funny one here Arry. Don’t know where to put him Arry. what is it Fred it’s an errrs Arry Has it got a body in it Fred Question As it got a body Me no.
No it aint got a body Arry ok Fred put it at the front of the commercials get him of first

So we arrived in vissingham and set of up the coast to Friesburgh to visit our first club member it was a very memorable adventure and all the countries we went to not once did we get stopped at the borders but just got waved through and one time ever got caught up as part of a carnival
Great memories.
