As you fast and pray during this holy month of Ramadan and feast with family and loved ones, may your faith in Allah lead you to happiness and may His choicest blessings be showered upon you.

Allah's Apostle said, when the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heavens are opened and the gates of hell are closed and the devils are chained.

Happy Ramadan ladies & gents!

Happy Ramadan & Congrats Maafanta!

To my Serers, Baldehs, Kabunkas, Jahankas, Jolas, Sarahulles, and the lot of my jovial cousins out there, I wish you all a pleasant and blessed Ramadan. I saw Dr. Jaiteh trying to make the Jahankas strong but let us see it...bring it on guys! To the others too, I wish you all well. Also, not forgetting all American friends, our families home and abroad, the entire Muslim Umma, and those parents and relatives of ours that passed away before us. May the lord grant us all Jannah.

The noise was too loud here before Ramadan started. As soon as it started, Mawdo Demba contributes only once a day; Prince Sankanu is no where; Isha, Omar Joof, Uncle Sainey, Pa Modou Njie and the rest of the Serers ---(I don't even want to guess); the Kabunkas (Karim, Manjang and the rest) lost the momentum too. (ha ha haa). Moi Ramadan, dawloh Serer-yee nyep!!

On a side note, I join our own iconic Demba Baldeh of Gainako in extending special thanks and congratulations to our own sister Fatou and the entire Maafanta crew for their steadfastness, contributions and consistency over what matters to Gambians, Africans and the world as a globe --that is one struggle!! May Allah swt continually keep her (Maafanta) for us. Keep it up ladies & gents at Maafanta!

Kind Regards,

Yero

The Prophet (PBUH) said, "There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, 'Where are those who used to observe fasts?' They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry the gate will be closed and nobody will enter through it." (Sahih-Al bukhari)

The best kind of patience is fasting, for it combines all 3 types of patience. It is patience in obeying Allah, may He be glorified & exalted, & it is patience in refraining from disobeying Him, because a person gives up his desires for the sake of Allah even though he may be longing for them...Fasting also involves patience in accepting the consequences which may result in hunger & thirst for the fasting person. [Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali

Aisha, (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (SAW): 'O Messenger of Allah, if I know what night is the night of Qadr, what should I say during it?
He said: 'Say: O Allah, You are pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me'"
"Allahumma innaka 'afuwwan tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'annee"
(Ahmad, Ibn Majah and Tirmidhi).
