Sekou is known to have rounded up enemies of his revolution and secretly shot them to death. He was iron fist dictator. He controlled the media. He was ruthless. Toure also portrayed himself as father of the nation loved by everyone. Praise singing of the hero leader was common. Toure never thought he would die. He planted trees in Saudi Arabia. He died abroad.
Toure claimed magical powers and told Guineans nobody would see his dead body. When he died, a casket was brought to Guinea but Toure's dead body was not displayed. Was he right in his predictions? |
