Yahya Jammeh leaving eight young lives dead and heading for a stupid AU summit that would yield no fruit for Gambia. What is wrong with this crazyman?

Janyanfara,I am shocked that you could use the deaths of 8 children in a ‘Geleh geleh’ on the North Bank as a connection to batter H.E.

This is a very sad tragedy, given that most people in those villages are closely related. These are very young lives to be brought to such an abrupt and unfortunate halt.

I pity those who survived because it is doubtful that RVH has the required technology to ensure that they don't live the rest of their young lives with impeding disability.

I wonder why Janyanfara brought Jammeh into this picture... true, some politicians could use this to score political points in an election year but I really doubt their presence would ease the pain these families are going through.

Janyanfara, I don't mean to be rude but i would strongly suggest that u take a few days off Gambian politics. Some passions or obsessions could easily lead to irreparable damages if care and diligence isn't taken.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un ('Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return'). This is the phrase that Muslims recite when a person is struck by calamity in life, and is usually recited upon hearing the news of someone's death.

It is disgustful for Jayanfara to use this tragic accident to lie about a political opponent. Think if you were related to one of these deseased children or the driver of the vehicle.

May thir souls rest in peace.

8 Students Killed in Car Crash, 3 in Intensive Care

By Baba Sillah
Wednesday, June 29, 2011

At least eight pupils of Conteh Kunda Sukoto Lower Basic School in Lower Badibou, North Bank Region on Friday June 24 died in a car accident, The Daily News gathered.
The students who have closed for the day from school, were heading home when a vehicle smashed them, the police spokesperson confirmed.
The accident occurred between the villages of Conteh Kunda Sukoto and Conteh Kunda Nejee.
Eight of them died on the spot, whilst three are at the intensive care unit of the country’s main referral hospital, RVTH.
The driver, Mr Ebou Njie, a resident of Nema Kunku was arrested on the spot by some officers of fire and rescue services onboard the vehicle.
He is currently under police custody.
The cause of the accident is not clear, but witnesses to the incident have been questioned by the police.
Sources however said, the driver was driving in the right end of the road whilst the students were walking along, but in the left end. This is confirmed by the police.
The dead students were laid to rest yesterday at Nema Kunku.

Guys,
YOU off the point. I mean for 8 souls to be lost due to bad roads condition, the president shoud instead of joining a mery party at the AU meeting morn with the nation. Sometimes when people write, see the logic rather than rush to conclussion. Most of the death are young citizens who if alive could become doctors, Teachers ect.
Even if it was Ousainou or Halifa who left these young dead as a result of non compitent of their governments I shall criticise. It is the responsibility of the govern to construct good roads after all tather than give millions to foreign jazz bands and so and so.

Sorry, that is not what you wrote,in a way I feel concerned for you in that you should have written your posting in a fury of political fever that overtook you totally when you saw an opportunity to put a political spin on the report of the deaths and injuries to young children. That I understand.BUT to respond to the shock and disgust that has become evident from your post you still try to justify political spin in response, instead of making an apology for a mistake caused by the political fever that you were suffering from when you made your initial posting.Perhaps time for a little self reflection ?.

WHITEMAN or toubab,
I am no politician you make me laugh. But on this perticular topic I am in pain with sadness. You don't me so don't judge least you be judged not.
I am a parent and God knows when I saw that report, myself and my family prayed for the departed souls. Do I have to write that on bantaba> I don;t think so. One of the seriously wounded is my own if you must know! Come on what has come over Gambians?Has Yahya Jammeh charmed you all?
In any pary of the civilised world presidents, prime ministers would be expected to cut short theri trips to anywhere when such happens to their citizens. Why must my attack on Yahya Jammeh's lark of care be seen to be political. I would say the same when it was Ousainou or Halifa at the helms.

Waa Juwara is his Uncle, Yahya Jammeh is his cousin even him and Aja Sombie the mother of the head of state are really close, He knows and is related to anyone of Substance. There is something terribly wrong here guys....................................................Peace

Moe, maybe you don't have any relatives in the provences but I Janyanfara has families accross the length and breath of Gambia and senegal and Mali where my grest grand maternal parents come from. If you know me and my history and you read the KAIRABA you would know I don't need to lie its well written there.
Much more if you know me, the Badibu, Jarra Niamina, Niani, kiang, Foni, is well scarttered with my relatives. If you talk about my own family my children's mothers come from Upper River Region and Western Region. So am well connected in the Gambian circles. Ask those who knew me. Maybe you don't even know what JANYANFARA means thats why fool.

Okay, "Ahmed babou" Jayanfara, There is not a Gambian in Banjul that is not from the Provinces even most of the Aku boys were relocated to the provinces after slavery, Banjul represents a migrational pattern,It represents a trend either you are first or second generation Waa Banjul or you just moved there, whats factual is very few can claim more than 100 years in Banjul and their ancestors so I see Nothing special about Banjul, I am an Islander Jay, I ran Mccarthy Island at the age of 1-3 like a real Islander King. Every Gambian you'll ever meet will trace their existence to the provinces or they are just foreigners like you from Mali or Senegal, No one owns Banjul whether you hail from Koina or Juffureh.............................................Pace

Editorial

It is indeed sad to hear that eight primary school students lost their lives in a road accident which could have otherwise been avoided. There have also been reports of other such fatal road accidents across the country in recent weeks. We are in the rainy season, a period when road accidents are often rampant due to poor visibility, with vehicles going out of control, and drivers not concentrating enough due to the rain. Careful driving during this period is very important to prevent such accidents. We therefore call on all those involved in motor vehicle traffic, in particular the drivers, to exercise caution in order to safeguard lives.

It is obvious that good road conditions have been created to ensure smooth traffic for an accident-free society. The government on its part has done a tremendous job in this regard by introducing certain traffic laws like the ban on talking on a cell phone while driving, compulsory use of seat belts, speed limit for driving in town, and a host of others. Despite all these, it is rather unfortunate that some drivers flout these traffic rules, especially in places where there are no traffic police in sight. Thus, while driving, they exceed the speed limit, use their mobile phones, and sometimes even overload their vehicles.

We hope that drivers will obey traffic rules; we also urge them to make sure that the treads on their vehicle tyres are good; this is very important because tyres that do not have proper treads are likely to skid during the rainy season. Wipers should also not be forgotten, as the most important thing while driving a car when it is raining are the wipers. If they do not work, there is only one thing that should be done, and that is parking the car on the roadside. We need not talk about breaks because the drivers themselves are aware of its importance.

They are also aware that there is usually a high incidence of break failures during the rainy season. The best way to prevent this is to have their brake fluid checked regularly. We acknowledge that the police are doing their best. They are clearly visible along highways in the country, ensuring that motorists abide by the rules. That is why it is important to encourage them so that they can continue being vigilant and help prevent unnecessary road accidents.
