Halifa's increasing fixation with tribal politics all makes me wonder if he is not harbouring some tribal disdain against other politicians who he doesn't share the same political ideology with.

In 2006, Halifa had a considerable amount of votes in wuli west and kombo north which are all predominantly dominated by mandingos and there is no way he could have won in Serrekunda central in 2002 and 2005 without mandinka vote. So why can't Halifa be grateful and stop insulting the intelligence of Gambians. Let Halifa stop the winging. People are sick of it. The issue is not about his tribe but his arrogance and silly intransigence.

When I read about a primary being the process that pdois uses to select candidates, I was like 'is Halifa well?'' I then asked myself; ''when did pdois ever had a primary?''

According to their last congress resolutions, PDOIS is suppose to convene another congress after the presidential election date is being announced, to select a new executive since the mandate of the existing one has lapsed. It is clear from this report that Halifa has no interest in submitting the pdois executive to the congress for mandate renewal or rejection. Instead he is only interest in bending the rules in favour of his own candidacy and then later claim that he is put there as a candidate by destiny rather than peoples' mandate, and he doesn't care who objects. As long as suwaibou, sidia and sam are behind him; Job done. This is what I would call typical arrogance.

Thanks

WHERE IS "MANDINKA" REFERRED OR MENTIONED ON THESE RELATED STATEMENTS

"Instead of making predictions of victory by the APRC because of alleged opposition disunity, people should spend time enlightening the Gambian people about why no personality should be allowed to preside over the affairs of a country for two decades.

They should vote to promote their liberty and prosperity.

The advantage that Senegal has over The Gambia is that no one supports a political leader on the basis of tribe. Today the current President of Senegal cannot rely on tribe to stay in office, and no other opposition leader could rely on tribe to seek political office.

The Gambia should emulate this, and pursue leadership based on merit. This is the only way forward. Those who merit being selected should rise up, and be counted."

1. POINT OF OBSERVATION ON "OPPOSITION LEADER" (AS REPORTED) MAY HAVE BEEN "POLITICAL LEADER"; FOR HALIFA NEVER ADVOCATES TRIBAL POLITICS HE DOES NOT PRESENT THIS REPORT BUT REPORTER HAS ALREADY FORWARDED IT; WHICH MAY REFLECT MISREPRESENTATION THIS IS WHAT HALIFA STATED UNDER PDOIS NEW YEAR MESSAGE;

"We therefore hope that the leadership of all political parties in the country shall bear in mind that leadership is not an entitlement or a right ascribed to be monopolised by any particular individual, family, ethnic group or other lineages; on the contrary, it is a duty to be entrusted by the people, irrespective of their individual characteristics, to persons of their choice regardless of their origin. This duty to lead should be performed to promote the welfare of all, without fear or favour, affection or ill will."

2. FOR EVERY CITIZEN TO DECIDE LEADERSHIP "BASED ON MERIT" AND NOT WHAT BAMBA K. MASS A UDP MILITANT RECENTLY ADVOCATES

RELATED TRIBALISM "BLAMING MANDINGOS "?

Thick and bold truth. Why must one person (Jammeh) be deluded enough to think he alone is fit to carry on until he collapses ?

There is no sanity to have one person infinely stay in power.
