This whole electoral process and the system itself remain disgracefully fraudulent. One Senegelese political commentator made a remark depicting fraudulent elections. In the way the man put it, it is absurd to get a wolf contest wrestling with beef. according to him, the wolf simply swallows the beef at first encounter. |

Jack, I wonder when Gambia will have free, fair and transparent elections?
When will the need for change become more than the fear of action and the consequences?
This Spring many countries have reached that tipping point.
I hope Gambia can reach fair elections without any violence or loss of life. |

"Wednesday, July 06, 2011
The Independent Electoral Commission has announced that it will on Saturday, July 9th and Sunday 10th 2011 conduct a correction exercise at Dippakunda Mosque Registration Centre following the missing of the registration team’s laptop which was used to register claimants in the nationwide registration exercise, a media release issued by the Commission indicated yesterday.
The release reads: Precisely, in the evening of the 25th May 2011, the laptop the registration team assigned at the Dippakunda Mosque Registration Centre was using to register claimants got stolen. Prior to this unfortunate event, the Senior Registration Officer for the Area has already exported the information for that week (19th to 25th May) to the USB Flash Drive.
However, it has been found out that the data has been corrupted and the laptop has not yet been found. Kobo, this is no easy and simple issue. One vote is everything in this game 1000 votes is more and almost 2000 votes is crucial. The IEC has nailed itself to the cross. |

Bro, I dont think you're right this time.
2000 votes is probably less than 1 % of the expected voters in november 2011.
The electorate at the last presidential election (2006) was 670336. The turnout was 392685 of which 67% (or 263099) voted for ARPC, (Jammeh).
Suppose there is some fraud of 2000 votes, (which is only 0.5 % of the turnout) , then that would not have effected the result.
The problem i have with the figures of this year is the mass registration as i posted before. I cant image that 100% of the Gambian population (those who are allowed to vote) have been registrated.
Regards
