"URR gets new governor

Kanimang Sanneh, a native of Jimara District in the Upper River Region has been appointed as the new governor of the URR.
He replaces Omar Khan, who held the position for the past seven years. Mr Khan confirmed his replacement to this reporter and said it took effect on Tuesday April 26th, 2011. “I am still behind the president and will continue to support the APRC,” he further told the Daily Observer.
Sanneh is no stranger to the URR as he had served as chairman of the Basse Area Council (BSAC) from 2002 -2007. Prior to that he served as the first National Assembly member for Jimara Constituency in the Second Republic under the APRC from 1997-2002.

Alhaji Omar Khan has confirmed to the Daily Observer that he was reinstated yesterday, April 28th, 2011, as governor of the Upper River Region (URR).
Governor Khan also reaffirmed his loyalty and support for President Jammeh as well as his commitment to the APRC.
Readers would recall that Khan was on Tuesday, April 26th, 2011, replaced by Kanimang Sanneh, a native of Jimara District, who is also a former chairman of the Basse Area Council.

Uncle Momodou, its evidence there is an internal fight between the forces in Basse. The President probably thought Omar Khan will not deliver the Wuli East seat to the APRC and in anticipation he got relief of his position. Apparently Mr. Khan actually delivered the seat and it was all a misunderstanding and he should get his commissioner position back...
See how these people are being played by this President or should I say by themselves... it is simply unbelievable that they will do anything to stay employed with this regime.... how shameful??? |

Well am afraid not Mr Nyari. Governor Khan is one of the most competent Governors within the circle of governors and I can assure you one fact, he can deliver and has been delivering. The people of Basse not only love and adopted him as one of their own, But he is an exemplary leader and governor to be respected. Look we live in a country where people are not credited for their achievements and Omar Khan stands to be one of those people who have not be credited for a job well done. Ask yourselves How long he has been governor of that region and that has nothing to do with the APRC regime, prior to the APRC Regime. The man is competent and knows his region, no man is infallible or above the law but it would definitely be an injustice trying to rid of such a MAN. Its the same Gambian bullcrap once again, the witches and wizards out for a feast, this is not the first time and probably wont be the last, we mastered the art of undermining each other. You know why Mai Fatty's Parents visited Omar Khan and were assured his hands where "TIED" first you have to understand how much they respect this individual and the relationship he has with the FATTY family. Mai Fatty is a political WHORE that much is a reassurance.........................................Peace

Dbaldeh the next time you see Mr Khan JR in Seattle Washington which I know will be at the next "NGENTEH" or "HEWW" please do me this favor and walk up to him and tell him for I will make sure he knows about what you stated. You know exactly what am saying you will be assigned your first ass whopping. The contract of all the Governors are getting expired if not already and that's why you see them making declarations of loyalty to HE on the press here and there nowadays, so that they could maintain their positions. |

Moe, if you want us to be friends then you should leave my nephew Demba alone. You should challenge his arguments and not be after his person.
The late Kaba Tambajang used to say if you tell his children that their father was poor because he did not steal public property, it would not hurt them but if you tell them that their father was corrupt (Tapaleh) they would feel very embarrass. Therefore he stayed poor and humble and kept his dignity.
If our father's are politicians and public figures then we should not be hurt that they are being discussed because I believe they have chosen that path and are to be held accountable of their actions. |

Moe, I know omar khan personally and there is no doubt he is a competent guy but recent reports about him indicate that he has turned himself into an undesirable despot. This is a guy who will literally and physically assault people who refused to succumb to his political whims or bullying- slapping people in public. This is disgracful.

| Totally agree with your assertion Momodou in refference to what Kaba Tambajang stated, but the fact is, that was then and this is now. Technology has changed and calculated lies and deception has no place in modern day Gambia. I have no problem with even GOD being scruternized and challenged but based on facts and level headed discussions. If they wanna call anyone a womanizer make sure he has been charged with it or accused in a court of law or else I would assume the women just love the brother. Same applies in any given scenario, Ask any of them to name one person they are sure he had a sexual relation with, that was inappropriate and see how many will be commiting a crime or running away. This is the very reason the Whistle blower few months ago was arrested and sent to jail for SLANDER. Gambians wanna scruternize their public officials but total backwardness and lack of respect for their leaders or appointees is the very reason we sit here and complain about hirings and firings. These people have no moral or ethical standards and am out to change that. Demba is my Futa brethren he chose to make it his point of duty to expose me and hunt me down. I am his number one enemy online which I did not initiate, trust me we will be beefing for a very long time. They messed with the wrong HNIC, Dalton also tried exposing me here which made me laugh, trust me they have beef Momodou and no one can change that.
