In total, 19 soldiers had been killed since the resurgence of hostilities on December 27, between the national army and the rebels of the movement of democratic forces of Casamance (MFDC). Never in the history of the armed conflict, losses were also recurrent in the ranks of the grande muette.
What, indeed irritated many senior officers is they could not accept, in view of the professionalism of our Jambars, why many casualties in so little time? The rebels who are rearmed with the help of the Republic Islamic of Iran, through the help of the Gambia government, secured sophisticated arsenal as well as anti-tank, such as the B10 modern equipment were recovered from armed bandits supposedly belonging to the Mfdc. This discovery precipitated the breakdown of diplomatic relations between Senegal and the Iran.

During the search operation, in the area of Sindian near Kanilaï, the hometown of President Yaya Jammeh, the army came under attack and they fired back killing more than forty (40) of them that later turned out to be Gambian military. this is reliablly source comfirmed by some wounded men, "this information has been handled with tactical secrecy and held secret, by the highest authorities of the country."
This severe and noted, la grande muette(Grand Mutiny), response is made possible by ground troops, supported by the air force helicopters (Mi-17), continuing our sources, "caused many casualties in the camp of fighters/supporters of the rebel movement." With the purchase of long-range guns, the Senegalese army has to go to the end, to avenge its elements fallen honour and, by ricochet, eradicate the rebellion from the southern region.
With Iranian weapons that have transited the Gambia before landing in the hands of the rebel movement, not to mention the death of Gambian soldiers which Gambia am sure never mentioned to its people?, during the search operation not the additional reasons for the breakdown of diplomatic relations between the two countries? One thing for the moment is safe: the frequent number of losses by the Senegalese army finally create discomfort among the troops and senior officers. In the meantime, the State has decided to suspend the search for reasons still not been clarified operation. This leaves some perplexed senior officers who believe that “the State uses the stick and the carrot, to attempt to resolve the Casamance problem."

OPERATION 40 Gambian military fall near Kanilaï

This news was from yesterday and yet still it has not been on either the GRTS or RTS news. Hmmm.... I doubt this story just as the one reported some time ago about the ex-president Jawara marrying Jammeh's mother which turned to be a lie.

Brothers and Sisters,
I am making so much enquires about this issue that I feel I am now more than FBI.
Some sources do said they too heard it while others told me to contact them later while they investigate more. All my above sources have always been reliable so am confused with this report as both are closest to the corridors of power in Banjul.
I have also contacted two other sources from Sinjang Cassamance and Darkar who are both intelligence officers one said and I translate his words.

"It is true that some mfdc militants were killed together with some men in military uniform with Gambian IDs who our men presumed are officers of the Gambian but Mr. If you want concrete information about names of those with Gambian IDs, I would see what I can do to get the names for you but no promises...Thanks don't forget my double sim phone please send it through the last address...."

With the above, I find it very confusing why no official want to either confirm or deny this story.I hope I can get Fatou Camara's number at state house to ask her.God save the Gambia.

Bro,
I love my country, and any thing like this is so serious an allegation to let go.Seneweb.com if they lied about this, the Gambia government should sue them.If they should keep quiet about such serious thing, then all people serving the government have not got the nation at heart. It could be anybody's relative even if they are from Cassamance.

I agree with you, except,"even if they are from Cassamance." a human life is a human life everywhere and they all have relatives.
(Perhaps a slip of the finger that maybe should be corrected ?)

Janyanfara,

I was also very skeptical about this story. I immediately contacted some close sources serving in the military in Gambia.

One source confirmed that a while back some MFDC militants were killed around the border, but he outrightly said "if 40 Gambian military men were killed, the military will be put in high alert" he went further to say that as of now there is no alerts. So he was also skeptical about the story...

I hope that our senegalese friends are being very responsible in issuing such reports.

We need to be cautious about people trying to fuel conflict between Gambia and Senegal. I don't care who is President Jammeh or who a conflict between Gambia and senegal will harm the civilians first before anyone.

Jammeh will be the last to feel the pinch so please let them cease and desist in wishing war on our two countries. At best such stories should be handled with caution.

We don't subscribe to such reports unless proven beyond any reasonable doubt.

So dbaldeh, you got no further information from your enquiries,we will have to wait for Janyanfara to establish the TRUE FACTS if he can,but like you I am getting more and more to think that it is a horrific dirty political trick. If it is a trick then the evil trickster politician is an agent of Satan .

GUYS,
Here I come with the truth.
MFDC rebels were killed in the Gambia and they were not fourty but eleven my source said. They did possessed Gambia IDS.mY SOURCE TOLD ME 30% of mfdc have Gambian documents that they used to infiltrate Senegal and the Senegalise Government now is wary of a poissible attack by dissident mfdc inside saloum side of Senegal.
This i the fact He went on to say if any Gambian was amongst those killed, then those men/women were inside Cassamance fighting when they had encounter with the Senegalese soldiers which ran into a place called WAONYI near the Palace of President Jammeh.
