In other words,Thank you france for sorting this out,now go away and let us carry on,nothing wrong with that, but will the next administration remember who helped them and will ALL THE PEOPLE benefit by the new administration ? Time alone will tell.

http://www.gainako.com/news/news/2011/04/19/gmc-issues-statement-on-cote-d-ivoire.html

"We acknowledge that the recent political conflict in Cote d'Ivoire is exclusively attributable to the reckless recalcitrance of former President Gbagbo together with the very few members of his cabal and their personal lust for political power against the legitimate aspirations of the people. We also appreciate that the international community has the obligation to assure the triumph of the voice of the people expressed through their votes; take all measures to end large scale atrocities being committed at the direct instigation of Laurent Gbagbo and his henchmen, as well as implement all measures to prevent situations that may potentially endanger international peace, security, stability and unprecedented economic turbulence in the entire ECOWAS Region, as enshrined in the United Nations Charter, the AU Charter and the ECOWAS Protocols.

We insist that the false notion of neo-colonial intervention in Cote d'Ivoire is palpably untenable and condemn its invocation as a pretext by those who are intent on creating permanent distractions from serious issues surrounding themselves."

It is not going to work like that. France will not simply accept 'a thank you'. There should be a deal with the new government and France had got something for this.

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.

Their stand appears sensible,I do not think that they have a base in the Gambia so I fail to see how they can be considered to be a relevant opposition if they operate outside the country, correct me if I am misinformed.

OK, I understand now Africans do have power now you expect them to do better, but, honestly, your not considering the negative impact of colonization is very unfair. The impact of colonization is too deep, poor African countries are so behind, they just start-over everything only 40 years ago. Africans are not born any lesser than European, however, they did start their nation building process too late and with a lots of disadvantages. Europe became this after years of independence(except the balkan invasion of Ottoman Empire ended 300 years ago, and Spain invasion 1000 years ago, and Hun invasion 2000 years ago). They did not face any foreign colonization by other race since Atilla Hun and Ottomans. They had free labor and natural resources for 500 years. Africans did not have any of the advantages they had. Do you think European are smarter!!!!
