Senegal severs ties with Iran...apparently Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki admitted to the claims that sophisticated weapons fired by MFDC rebels against Senegalese troops came from Iran allegedly via Gambia. The same Foreign Minister who was fired while on that official state duty.
We still dont know who those weapons were supposedly going directly to regardless of what the bill of laden said. Senegal's step in cutting ties with Iran gives us some clues as to whether they believe in Iran's explanation that Gambia bought those weapons.

UPDATE FROM FOROYAA ON-LINE NEWS Editorial : GAMBIA, SENEGAL, IRAN AND THE ARMS FOUND IN NIGERIA UNDER http://www.foroyaa.gm/modules/news/article.php?storyid=6268
"The current uproar in Senegal is caused by the claim that the Foreign Affairs Minister in the Gambia has informed his counterpart in Senegal that the Gambia Government has received arms for its security from Iran in 2005. Where do we go from here?
The media in Senegal and Gambia should follow the court case in Nigeria to get to the truth. Governments come and go. The sovereignty of the Senegalese and Gambian people cannot be negated. Both the Gambian people and the Senegalese people can remove their governments if they cannot guarantee their civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. There is no need to resort to narrow nationalist and national chauvinist discourse. Truth and justice have no nationality. Let the truth be bold to the two peoples and they will unite, expose and isolate anyone who threatens the security of the sub-region."Foroyaa

According to foroyaa; "In October 2010, 13 containers containing arms but labeled as building materials were intercepted at the Lagos port and seized. As it is claimed that the containers were destined for The Gambia, a claim which the Gambia government has vehemently denied, Foroyaa has got a correspondent in Lagos to be reporting regularly on the trial. - Editor"
