When you take deep view of things, it comes clear that something else is keeping Yaya Jammeh, far from the demons of Kanilai and all the magical attributes.
There are crooked hands behind the Kanilai magic maker. These are people who don't necessarily want Yaya but they do have some personal interests to secure. They stay by Yaya to lick the wounds of society in this massive scale oppresion.
It is therefore not Yaya that keeps the engine of bad governance. It is more the crooked hands behind him that push for reasons of personal greed.
