Here are some video clips of Gambian born Historian, former diplomat, professor and chairman of the African Studies Department at Howard University in Washington, D.C University.
The first in a Series of Talks on Tasawwuf/Sufism on the theme of "The Necessity and Function of the Shaykh" presented at the Islamic Study Center in Charlottesville, VA.
In his talk, Dr. Nyang uses metaphor to describe the special love and care of the shaykh for the murid/a, so they might develop the patience and humility necessary for acquiring deep knowledge
