From rags to riches, a man who could not buy pedal bicycle for personal mobility 20 years ago is now making gifts of solid four wheel vehicles and large sums of money after 16 years force occupancy as political leader.
This man now turns around to blast with fury that Gambians are not grateful to him.
With boot-licking sycophants in large numbers, making the self imposed president a king, is best way of showing gratitude for his sand and cement work they call national development.
Have they forgotten that this man robbed political power by force of arms?
Have they forgotten that this man kills to keep tight grip and control of power ?
Have they forgotten that this man is abusing state power of president to enrich himself?
Are they not insulting every Gambian and destroying the prospects of better life for the future generation of Gambians?
Is this man grateful to Gambians by using deception to claim he is chosen by people to undress his army uniform and constest a fixed-up elections and now discarding elections to crown him rich African King?
What is the future of this insensitive move ?
What an Ungrateful Servant of the People !!!!

Kitabul Arerr,
Recent moves by a set of deluded people ranks the most fatal human act against Gambia(ns). While some people simply take it as just another twist of events, the cruel merchant president is seeing a different picture.
He (Yaya) is taking it that life offers every chance for him transforming perpetually at highest cost to the nation. Results of this whole Yaya affair will remain the most outstanding desaster for Gambia and Gambians.
For the moment, this senseless advance by wicked persons deserves everyone's total condemnation. Down with Yaya and his crooked ways. |

| Karamaba, your caption of Mr. Jammeh as as "ungrateful servant of the people" is spot on. Real leaders are supposed to serve the people and what we have in our beloved The Gambia is a s0-called head of state who has inverted the role of what it means to be in charge of a nation's affairs. I dream about the day when I can proudly talk about the president of my country again and with vigilant freedom lovers like yourself doing what every patriot should do, I believe that day is not far away. |

| Please explain guys ungrateful servant of the people HOW??. Watchman says he has inverted what it means to be a head of state, but just a note of care when you utter these baseless accusations, what has he inverted that was not already inverted I ask? From rags to riches Karamba, well that to me shows true visionary leadership and the ultimate determination to overcome and make ones dream come true. The man was better of than 60 percent of the Population when he became President.Maybe you don't know crap about the man ya'll castigating. Lets talk about Millionaires and Brothers with Mill tickets. Gambia has evolved and the average Gambian recognizes the opportunities as they present themselves. I will stay short of mentioning names but the sheer determination of Private citizens coming back to the Modou Lamin Mangas, Mohammed Jahs, The Unique solutions family, and the brothers taking advantage of the Bread and butter of the Nation The Tourism Sector should be a point of concern for your hopelessness in the poverty that besiege the Gambian that lacks the faculties of being pioneers.....................................................Peace |

Gambians need work and want to work that is the message of the Youths, and give thanks for the Servant of the people for starting to deliver those jobs. Yes it was really good to see JAH Oil in big red letters!
Let's face it Guys Jammeh ain't going anywhere anytime soon as there is no creditable opposition with a vision for the betterment of the country with popular support and know-how. Just haters who haven't the umph needed to move, shake and make things happen.

Jammeh is a product of Gambian society. He is not Martian. He is not the best, but it is better option than anyone else. Considering the popular support he has, and collectively imbecile opposition, i would rather choose stability, steady development and security rather than overrated priorty of human rights, freedom which is not too bad in Gambia. There are hundreds of Gambians killed by malaria, hiv and other disease. How many die from human rights violation?

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

A war on Mosquitoes would be a better investment of resources and time for the APRC to focus for 2011 elections and as for those pondering how to get from rags to riches the persom who finds the cure to Malaria and ridding Gambia of Malaria deserves to be Sourveigne in my mind.

Nyari don't bother get so upity with me! Believe me on the ground Jammeh has strong supporters. That doesn't mean that all of his Supporters sgree 100% of the time with what he does or what his close sdvisers advise him to do. Nevertheless Jammeh has delivered and will continue to deliver. It's all to easy to blame and more difficult to mobilise the people with an I can do attitude. Many of the Youth want to become President and know don't one of them will; as Capacity Building takes hold in the Country within Society's ranks a future Leader will inevitably emerge.
For now itis for the opposition to pursuade the country to entrust the Presidency in their hands because Jammeh has already said he's not campaigning. APRC members are mobilising on the ground. Jammeh becoming President is already a forgone conclusion because the opposition haven't got a solid foundation to launch from. After all the opposition party has had nearly five years to prepare and what have they achieved or have to offer the nation at the moment? Whilst most of the opposition are resident in other countries what example are they setting their supporters at home? Apart from spread foolish roamers about Jammeh wanting to become Mansa of Gambia by leaking such roamers to the BBC. Or encouraging Gambian Youth to follow them by going theBack Way to join them at their own peril, if they are misguided to smuggled illegally into Europe to live in so-called freedom. Yes Nyari after 16 years of Jammeh there isn't a credible opposition to engage and enable Gambians at home entrust their futures in speeding up the progressive development of the country?

Sister Omega, for you to fervently and rabidly support Yahya Jammeh after he has not only tarnished The Gambia's image is not an affront to me, you have an inalienable right to do so. But considering the fact that you are a woman also (who chooses to pooh pooh the shabby treatment of GAMCOTRAP officials by your "President"), and the persistent inability on your part to at least objectively criticise your unholy idol that is Yahya Jammeh; one can only conclude your type is a frightening road block to achieving national consensus on righting the obvious human rights abuses that have taken place under your beloved Gambian head of state.
Please, avidly stand for your political beliefs but dont insult the intelligence of the rest of mankind in defending your bloodthirsty "leader" because he has developed the country and so forth. Also do not desecrate the memory of those murdered by the APRC regime and the pain of their families by dismissing criticism of your "Man" as" rumour" (not roamer as you hurriedly spelled it in your rush to attack an APRC dissident).
Every regime has its pros and cons but the APRC's inequities will take years of healing, forgiving and reform to expiate. Do yourself and your pro-Jammeh cohorts a favour by putting forth more credible, nuanced and coherent arguments for your side of the political divide.
Other than that I hope you have an excellent weekend and I will check out your blog after this. Peace.

Sister O, I am not bothered about his supporter but the accuracy of your statement.
I think it is about time you double-check your facts so as not to bring more embarassment to yourself.

Elaborate Nyari, having just returned from Gambia that was the feedback I was getting on the ground, and I was there when the news reports that suggested that there were roamers about Jammeh becoming King of Gambia that came over Reuters coinciding with jammeh leaving for Saudi Arabia for Tobaski on Hajj. I also met up with APRC members whilst there and spoke both Supporters and members of the opposition, as well as community leaders, and a lot of youth. In fact I was also asking students opinions in school about how they saw the future in the country. so tell me Nyari where did I get my facts wrong. Are you implying that you know better than those people I communicated with about their lives in Gambia than they do?

You said the president is delivering on jobs. You tell me how because as far as i know, he has destroyed the GPTC, forced many petty traders out of business, tourism is declining thanks to his foriegn policy and human rights records. The groundnut subsector which provides subsistence income to rural gambians has also being strangulated by the president. And you tell me he is delivering on jobs? |

Tourism is declining due to the Global Meltdown and traditional vistors to the Gambia are facing mass unemployment at home, higher tax hikes, increased taxes including the departure taxes for British Tourist who have to pay more the further they go. The competion in the Peanut market is fierce and Gambia has to diversify and is doing so. You forget to mention that farmers are diversifying and that the national motto is we eat what we grow. The government has launched schemes for youth in animal husbandry and Butchery in the countryside to support the Youth in Self-employment schemes. There is also a Public Works Programme for example South Bank High rd is currently being constructed. There is more competition with more airines going to Gambia giving Tourists more choice for the length of their vacations, and a wider choice of accommodation than ever before There is more investment going into employing the youth with programmmes, ICT companies are starting to invest in Gambia bring in CCTV technology and electronic ID Technology. Whilst I was there was 250 jobs being created by an ICT company in Banjul. Of course there is an unemployment situation in Gambia however initiatives are being put in place to create wider opportunities for the youth who are now better educated and skilled than before. More girls are being educated and less of them are in domestic service, they are getting good results and gaining scholarships.
The Airport has been cleared of most of the Bumsters, and Gambian Beaches are cleared from the mobs of youth hassling. Now the beaches can be utilised by ordinary Gambians and Tourists. Most of Gambia's Tourist are repeat visitors anyway, and in a competitive market place tourism has always been a fickle sector one which any country can't put all of its eggs into. After three years absence from Gambia has continued to develop at a fast pace and yes people are getting jobs. There is so much jobs needed to be created for the tremendous amount of work out there that needs to be done for those who aren't afraid of hard work, and are motivated in getting or more importantly creating it. In the provinces people are busy although I was there on the run up of Tobaski traders were doing roaring trade in goats, food stuffs, electrical goods etc. What was suprising was how many people both young and old have mobiles with internet connections, the range of phone card providers have increased televisions,Scooters and bicycles. Upcountry the markets were doing some good trade, and construction is happening there as well. To quote a Tourist who I saw on GRTS I enjoy returning to Gambia because every time I see more developments, and really and truly that sums it up the wealth of change that has transformed the country in such a short space of time. There'definiately no chance of turning back the clock to when Gambia mainly depended on peanuts and Tourism. The Gambia's motto today is WE GROW WHAT WE EAT AND WE EAT WHAT WE GROW! Farmers are busy growing food and of course Human nature being as it is people want even more improvements and that will come.

| Well Watchman I tend to totally disagree for it was not Jammeh that tarnished the Image of Gambian but the half baked politicians and incompetent so called journalist not to mention the human rights psycho's. The problem is most of these half baked cheap erection seeking activist have no clue whats wrong and the security implications in Gambia. Sometimes I doubt if these fools have a clue what a sovereign nation is and how stupid and ignorant their so called ideology is, Just take a good look at every single one of these starving malnourished artist starting with the Chinese shoes Posse. The Gamcotrap issue I will elaborate on later and tell ya'll whats wrong with the whole thing. Blaming Jammeh is the easy way out. It is NOT POLITICALLY MOTIVATED and I can back my assertions. Look my friends sometimes I think most of ya'll are mentally retarded and some just have no kind of common sense but thats when I come IN............................................................Peaced |
