The management of Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC) through its visionary leadership of the managing director last Thursday launched its new web portal dubbed, www.sshfc.gm at a colorful ceremony held at Ocean Bay Hotel.
The ultimate objective of this web portal is to enable SSHFC’s customers and stakeholders to have easy access to timely and relevant information as this world is a global village. The event that was well attended by government institutions, companies and stakeholders was organized by SSHFC.
Sering Jallow, board Chairman of Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation, stated that they are well aware of global technological advancements and the impact it has on operations and business transactions.
‘No sound institutions can afford to ignore the economic challenges and opportunities presented by modern technology via digitalisation. This means that we need to get extra creative in our methods such as the drive for process automation, paperless offices and system integration. Every challenge should be turned into opportunities and should not be seen as a negative block, but rather an energizing springboard for value creation and process enhancement.’
Board chairman Jallow further added SSHFC cannot afford to lack behind in these technological developments and that enhancing the Corporation’s online presence via the website and social media platforms is a step in the right direction.
‘I hope all stakeholders would visit this platform to attain credible information about the modus operandi of the Corporation via your desktops, tablets, laptops and smartphones. What we are seeing here today is just a first step towards greater leveraging of technology. We will continue to steer the institution on a path that would ensure that members/customers can easily confirm their contributions/payments online, print statements, update their profile and even claim their benefit all from the comfort of their homes.’
The website, he went on, is imperative to ensure the cooperation and smooth services delivery to its esteem customers.
He underscored the importance attached to this website, further expressing optimism that the launching of this web portal will ease numerous communication challenges facing the institution.
The Board of Directors, he added, are committed to continue working with the Management to ensure that it continues to provide the requisite human capacity for its employees. He acknowledged that SSHFC is The Gambia sole provider of social protection services supporting several thousand of employers by providing access to those services that best suit the needs of their employees and businesses.
Welcoming the guest, Fabuka Njaay, Director of Corporate Affairs of Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation, explained that one of the main rationales behind launching this website is to ensure that SSHFC provides easy access and useful information to its customers and stakeholders and to enhance effective service delivery.
Njaay expressed optimism that through this platform and by utilizing other communications vehicles, information dissemination would be enhanced. This, he added, is another objective to engage their customers through increased access or service touch points and co-create value.
‘We are always trying to be closer to our customers, as much as possible and one of the key ways of attaining this is through effective marketing communication strategies, and this is why we have enhanced our platform with more features and useful information that we believe will add value for our customers’.
The launching of this web portal, he went on, would help to create more awareness of the platform which will in turn benefit their stakeholders.
He also seized the opportunity to assure its customers that SSHFC are always available to communicate to them, as customers are their first priority.
‘We want to have access to our customers that is what prompted us to organize this launching at the Ocean Bay Hotel where SSHFC have most of their customers. We will continue to foster partnerships with our customers and by extension thank them for this collaboration in ensuring that this website is successful launched. We encourage all customers to access the website’s useful information’.
Mohamadou Manjang, the managing director of SSHFC, who presided over the official launching reminded that SSHFC was established in 1981 to provide pension services and access to housing for its members, noting that it is the largest institutional investor in the country with a diversified investment portfolio across various sectors of the economy.
