Gainako has confirmed reports that there is a big split among the Kibaroo Radio and Website family leading to its Managing Editor and CNN’s Award winning Journalist Musa Saidykhan resigning along with Suntou Touray; investigative Journalist Yahya Dampha and Momodou Lamin Sillah former cofounder of the defunct Gambia Journal. Editor Saidykhan and his new team have since created a new website and online radio called Kairo News which is already up and running....

The general public is hereby informed about the establishment of Kairo News. With offices in the United States, United Kingdom and Sweden, Kairo News publishes and broadcasts Radio Kairo on www.kaironews.com. Kairo News is formed by a group of Gambians committed to inform, educate and entertain a news hungry population. The group seeks to champion press freedom by giving voice to the voiceless and help bring back sanity to the Gambia. Kairo will therefore strive hard to pursue the truth in its coverage and analysis of news and current affairs. We are pleased to invite the general public to the launching of Kairo News and Radio on Tuesday, February18, 2014 at 4PM Eastern Time or 9PM GMT. The launching will be done in the form of a discussion on the road to the Gambia’s independence.
