Brief Bio:
Sidia Jatta is a former Gambian presidential contender in 2001.
He was a senior curriculum development officer, national languages, and continued in that position until September 1987 when he resigned to form a political party - People's Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism - PDOIS.

Fluent in Arabic and French he has two Masters degrees and a Doctorate in Philosophy.

He was a member of parliament in The Gambia from 1997 until early 2012 when the opposition decided to boycott the elections.
As a member of the Gambian parliament, he was a member of ECOWAS Parliament in Abuja, Nigeria, from 2002 to 2005. Whilst in ECOWAS Parliament, he was a member of the Joint Standing Committee on constitutions, laws, human rights, free movement of people, goods and services and foreign affairs.

Sidia initiated Wulli Adult Literary Development Association (WALDA) which is a community based organisation, financed through a fund he established for the constituency with his salary since March 1997.
