1. "A'uzu billahi minashaitanir rajim" Translates as "I SEEK REFUGE IN ALLAH FROM THE OUTCAST SATAN!"
  • 1. In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

    2. Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;

    3. Most Gracious, Most Merciful;

    4. Master of the Day of Judgment.

    5. Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.

    6. Show us the straight way,

    7. The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.

THE "STRAIGHT PATH" IS OPEN (MORALITY COMPASS) FOR EVERY HUMAN BEING!

MAY WE BE GUIDED ON "STRAIGHT PATH" "INSHA ALLAH"! AMEEN

I have a problem HOW CAN ANY INTELLIGENT (LITERATE) PERSON; HEAR, READ, LEARN & PRAY WITH THIS BEAUTIFUL RECITATION OF THIS WONDERFUL SEVEN (7) VERSES CHAPTER; not DIVINE SPIRITUALLY inspired and/or questioning DIVINE SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION OF ISLAM ("SUBMISSION TO THE WILL OF ONLY ONE GOD AKA ALLAH"); ESPECIALLY NOT LOVING ITS AWESOME VALID TRANSLATIONS
2.

3. A muslim prayer

A Jewish equivalent of sura "al Fatiha" ?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I heard there is a close equivalent of sura 1 ("al fatiha") in the Jewish tradition.
If this is true, could someone post it?
The lord's prayer in the Bible is pretty close, but apparently a jewish prayer is even closer (?).
If someone finds it, how old is it?

Thanks.

Shalom Arimof,

The link is indeed very informative.

Have you heard of the following prayer called "Ha Patchah"?

HA PATCHAH
(THE OPENING PRAYER)

BE SHEM ELAH HA RAHAMIM
In the name of God, the Most Gracious (Ezr.5:1; Dan.9:9)
T’HILAH L’ELOHEINU RIBOHN HA-OLAMIM
All praise be to God, Lord of the universe (Jewish liturgy)
HA RAHAMIM
The Most Gracious (Dan.9:9)
MELEK YOM HA DIN
Master of the Day of Judgment (Jewish terminology)
ELEKHA ADONAY EQARA WE EL ADONAY ET HANAN
To you, O Lord, I implore – and to my Lord I seek help (Psalm 30:9)
HEHENI BE ORACH MISHOR
Guide us in the straight path (Psalm 27:11)
ALEKHET BE DEREHU WE LEYAREH ITTO
The way of life according to His path by reverencing Him (Deut 8:6)
LE HALAK BE ETSAH RISHAH WE LA SAGHAH
Not by the advice of the cursed, nor of the strayers (Psalm 119:21)

I do not know if this is a pretty recent arrangement of Biblical verses or a very old inherited prayer. What is the origin of "Ha Patchah"? The answer would be extremely valuable.

Obviously Sura 1 of the Quran reads:
#64830;1:1#64831;بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
#64830;1:2#64831; الحمد لله رب العلمين
Praise be to GOD, Lord of the universe.
#64830;1:3#64831;الرحمن الرحيم
Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
#64830;1:4#64831;ملك يوم الدين
He who reigns over the Judgment day.
#64830;1:5#64831; إياك نعبد وإياك نستعين
It is You whom we worship; it is from You that we seek help.
#64830;1:6#64831; اهدنا الصرط المستقيم
Guide us onto the right path,
#64830;1:7#64831; صرط الذين أنعمت عليهم غير المغضوب عليهم ولا الضالين
The path of those whom You blessed, not that of those who have incurred Your wrath, nor that of those who have gone astray.

Peace.

quote:
"All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action.

Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.

Remember, one day you will appear before ALLAH and answer your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone."
