========================================================================================== This Relates to EBOLA
Still new cases in Sierra Leone.
" In the last week (ending 5 July) we have seen. . .
Nine new infections were reported this week, up from eight the week before. Transmission is ongoing in the same three districts as the previous week; Kambia, Port Loko and Western Area Urban, in the Magazine Wharf area of Freetown. Two cases were from Port Loko. One from Maforki chiefdom was on a contact list. The other was only diagnosed after death in the community in Masimera, with an unknown source of infection. Kambia's four cases were all on contacts list or had links to other cases. One of the cases in Kambia was a healthcare worker. Three cases were reported in the Magazine Wharf area of Freetown, all were from quarantined houses. Three of the nine cases this week were only diagnosed after death in the community. Vigilance remains high; more than 2,000 samples were tested for Ebola and less than half a percent were positive. Over 98% of calls to the national Ebola hotline reporting sick people or deaths are responded to within 24 hours. Over 1,500 contacts are being followed-up across three districts. There are 9 operational Ebola Treatment Centres (ETCs) and 9 operational laboratories."
