TATADINGDING JOBARTEH CLEARS THE AIR

Foroyaa: Published on Friday, 14 March 2014 Written by Kebba Camara

Tatadingding Jobarteh, one of the leading Kora musicians in the country, clarifies to Foroyaa the rumour that is being spread that he is sick albeit slowly recovering. He also clears the air by asserting that despite his sickness, he has not assigned any individual to solicit money from anyone on his behalf not to talk of through the social media or the local newspapers.

Tatadingding speaking to this reporter recently in his Brikama residence said: "It came to my notice recently that there are people busy informing the whole world that I am sick and will need some financial assistance, it is true that i am sick but if i need financial assistance I will not assign people to go to the media houses to beg on my behalf, my family is taking care of me.

Anybody who takes money from anyone on my behalf is doing it at his or her own risk. The only person to contact if one wants to offer any help regarding me is my brother Bai Jobarteh who lives here in Brikama.

I’m always shocked when I see on the internet that am looking for financial assistance. Let the people desist from such acts because it’s not ethical at all."

The kora meastro has been ill for a while and told this reporter that he is recovering from the illness. Tata said he has been in bed for some months now. He said he has stopped performing because he wants to take care of his health first.

“The Salam band will be with my brother Pa Bobo Jobarteh until I regain my health back," informs Tatadinding Jobarteh. Tatadingding returned from Germany and became one of the busiest musicians in the country performing at least two concerts a day until his sudden illness.

He raised the Gambian flag high in the West while he was away for about 10 years. He has toured many European countries and performed concerts and also performed in many international festivals. He is a sound engineer, composer and song writer. Jobarteh told this paper that three hospitals - Serrekunda Hospital, MRC and EFST hospital are taking care of him.

He used this opportunity to thank his family and fans for their concern. “I’m slowly recovering and hoping soon I will come back to the stage to entertain people," he said.
