A 70-year-old woman was found dead in her living room on Tuesday by neighbours at Kachumeh village, Kombo South District, The Point has learnt.
Amie Secka, whose body had almost decomposed, was immediately laid to rest a week after her death.
The deceased, a Banjulian was believed to have settled in the community of Kachumeh for nearly 10 years but was living alone in her own compound.
Speaking to The Point, Isatou Kambi, a close neighbour to the deceased said she came to be aware of the incident when one of her children said she smelled a very bad odour once the air blew.
According the neighbor, she had also smelled the same. She then informed some elders in the community who found the almost decomposed body in her bed. She added that both the police and health officers were later informed about the matter.
“It has really shocked us as neighbours,” she said, adding that such kind of death is uncommon.
“We cannot even tell the cause of her death because she used to wake up in the morning everyday and jogged, but all these days we missed seeing her outside,” she said.
“The only thing I heard her complaining of was that her feet were paining. It is really sad seeing someone living alone in the house for many years without a family,” she said. Author: Jusupha Jobe
