It is likely the Ebola epidemic has affected tourist numbers to the Gambia but there are some very good late deals to be had if you're not worried about that. Thomas Cook/Airtours are advertising 7 days holiday (flight and B & B accommodation) for far less than the usual cost of the flight. 11 night breaks are also being advertised and seem to be good bargains.
Several hotels are either not opening or opening late and I would think overall tourist numbers will be down this season. It will be interesting to see the final 'official' Gambian figures when they come out next year. Unfortunately the knock on effect is that all those workers in those hotels not open will not be bringing in an income for themselves or their families. Lets hope that Ebola does not reach the Gambia because that would be devastating for the economy of that country.
